Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is also known as Autism, that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior and it is a development disorder. It can manifest differently in individuals, and while it is typically diagnosed in childhood, it is a lifelong condition. Learning about autism is a continuing process in which we need patience, sensitivity, and an open mind, as someone who has had the privilege of joining an adult boy with autism on their journey. In this essay, I will share an insightful journey with autism adult boy learning about autism, highlighting some important lessons I have learnt along the road.

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

We know Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex condition that affects each individual differently. It is distinguished by difficulties in social communication and interaction, as well as restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. 

It is important to recognize that autism is not a disease or a mental illness, It is a neurodevelopmental condition which is not caused by poor parenting or bad behavior, and individuals with autism do not choose to behave in a certain way.
